1. US stock indexes plunged about 9 percent on Monday, as the Federal Reserve’s drastic interest rate cut to near zero stoked fears of a coronavirus-driven recession. Trading on Wall Street’s three main stock indexes was halted for 15 minutes shortly after the opening, the third such pause in six days, as the S&P 500 index plunged 8 percent, triggering an automatic cutout.
2.Canada has become the latest country to close its borders because of Covid-19. Its Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, announced this morning that all non citizens and non residence will be banned from entering except those from the United States.
3.Germany has become the latest country to close borders as European nations try to stem the spread of the coronavirus. Its borders with France, Austria and Switzerland were shut on Monday morning, except for commercial traffic. France is considering more stringent lockdowns, with its health chief saying the situation is “deteriorating fast”.
4. US airlines are asking the Government for more than $50 billion of supporters global travel dries up.
5.The British actor Idris Elba has tested positive Covid-19. He’s tweeted that he has no symptoms so far but was exposed to the virus, so he decided to get tested.
