Daily case reports of confirmed Covid-19 cases are published on the Ministry of Health website. Newsroom has charted some of the numbers to help give a picture of Covid-19’s spread into the New Zealand.
Yesterday, Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield confirmed there were 40 new cases of Covid-19, up from the previous day’s 36 new cases. The below chart is confirmed cases only, however, there are also 13 probable cases.
Bloomfield also shared the number of recovered cases for the first time, this currently stands at 12. Six people have been hospitalised. None have been admitted to an intensive care unit.
Confirmed cases are spread across almost all ages and include one child, and one person in their 80s. People in their 60s represent the largest group to date, with 30 people with confirmed cases of Covid-19.
More males than females have confirmed cases of Covid-19.
The Ministry of Health has been listing travel details for confirmed cases, as well as providing information about the possible cause of transmission. By far, the biggest cause is international travel, of being a close contact of another case.
Blooomfield said there are four cases of suspected community spread. From the data on the Ministry of Health’s website, two of these appear to be classified as ‘under investigation’.
Cases are spread across the country with 56 in Auckland.
Information on likely transmission cause is still being gathered for a number of confirmed cases. Wellington has 12 cases where details are still not clear, with Auckland at 11.
